Heli-One has a rich history supporting law enforcement agencies with their helicopter maintenance and customization needs. Modifications that have been implemented in the past stress efficiency, enhance safety, expand operational capacity and add value to the aircraft.

Multi Mission Flight Management System

We offer flight management system upgrades that offer advanced and versatile functionality for law enforcement aircraft. New systems allow for multiple mission profiles to be available to crew at the touch of a button, saving workload and enhancing situational awareness. We offer flight management systems from a variety of vendors which will depend on the operator's aircraft, budget, and operational demands.

Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System

This modification is a fully-featured Helicopter Terrain Awareness and Warning System (HTAWS) with FAA TSO-C151b Class A and TSO-C194 approvals. The enhanced features include extensive worldwide terrain and obstacle database, look-ahead algorithms, internal GPS card, HD terrain imagery and multiple operation modes. In the event of exceeding boundaries of any alerting envelope, the EGPWS provides the flight crew with aural alert messages, visual annunciations and terrain displays, which interface with aircraft audio system, annunciators and EFIS or MFD. Multiple muting options are available for operators who regularly conduct low level operations.

FLIR Camera

Heli-One offers FLIR camera installations for different aircraft types. Heli-One has certification for the FLIR Ultra Force II EP camera for the AS332 but can adapt this for other FLIR cameras and aircraft. The certification applies to AS332, H225, and S-61. Thermal imaging systems consist of an IR camera and a CCD daylight camera with 18 x zoom. A spotter scope can give 0.4° field of view. Options like laser range finder, laser illuminator and laser pointer can be offered, as well as synchronization with searchlight or radar. The camera is qualified to MIL-STD. Associated equipment like Console, LED display, digital recorder and video downlink is offered. The design may be adapted to other aircraft types upon request.

Traffic Advisory System

The Traffic Advisory System enhances your flight crew’s situational awareness of nearby aircraft. Crucial for high standards of safety in high-traffic airspace and in weather conditions causing poor visibility.

We offer this installation for the AS332L2 and the S-76 but can offer adaptations for other aircraft types.

Loud Hailer

The Loud Hailer system is a public address system for communications between the flight crew and a person on the ground. This system is intended to deliver amplified messages and sounds outside the aircraft through the helicopter PA system. This system consists of two major components: Controller (A790 Technisonic) and Amplified Speaker System (PSAIR22+ Powersonix). The controller is installed in the cockpits’ center console and interfaced with the existing intercom system. The speaker assembly is installed in the left wheel well, forward fairing area with a 50 degree downward angle.

LASD AS332 Modifications

Heli-One completed 3 AS332L1 modification programs for the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department (LASD) which included 65 Block 1 upgrades and mods. The ‘Air Rescue 5’ mission profile is primarily SAR but also serves duties with SWAT, maritime missions, Homeland Security support, and natural disaster relief. These modifications were customized to meet the demanding mission requirements and provide exceptional long-term value to the LASD.

Long Term Support of German Border Police

Heli-One Norway has a long-term support relationship with the German Border Police (Bundespolizei). Heli-One is modernizing their fleet of AS332 with new displays and flight management systems with additional ad hoc and heavy maintenance support. Heli-One Design Engineers have also developed custom solutions based on the feedback of crew and pilot. This includes the implementation of quick-configure equipment and solutions to adapt to changing mission needs.

MEDEVAC

Essential for rescue operations, the MEDEVAC permits the rapid transport of seriously injured persons, from the scene of an accident to the medical center.

Medical Rack for Seat

Heli-One offers a removable medical equipment rack for cabin seats for ad-hock ambulance or SAR missions. The rack is placed in any normal passenger seat and is secured by seatbelt. The rack is fully customizable for vital equipment and crew requirements.
