Scott Markwick Named to Wings & Helicopters’ Top 20 Under 40 List July 20, 2017

July 20, 2017 – Richmond, Canada - Heli-One, a leading provider of helicopter maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services, is pleased to congratulate Scott Markwick, Manager, Base Maintenance, on being selected by Wings and Helicopters Magazine for their annual Top 20 Under 40 list. This list represents the top Canadian aviation professionals who have demonstrated an ability to drive positive change, provide leadership and make a transformative impact in the aviation industry.

Scott has been at Heli-One for 10 years, working his way up from Lead Mechanic, Airframes, to Manager, Base Maintenance. He has been in aviation his entire working career, entering the Airframe Structures AME Program at British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) out of high school, receiving his AME S License at 23. As the youngest Base Maintenance Manager at Heli-One, he recognizes the importance of bringing up new generations of AMEs and actively encourages and mentors apprentices that join the shop.

Scott has been instrumental in implementing new processes and project management methodologies to increase efficiency at Heli-One. His implementation of LEAN concepts helped bring a Super Puma G-Check down from 140 to 105 days. This accomplishment marked the quickest G-Check completed at Heli-One, which meant the aircraft could return to providing essential offshore support sooner. One of the largest programs Scott led involved the design, installation, testing, and certification of 12 STCs on three AS332 Super Puma aircraft, accomplishing this task in just ten months for a large law enforcement agency.

“Within our organization, there is no one more deserving of this honor than Scott,” said Nik Racic, Director Airframes, Heli-One Canada. “He is intelligent, hardworking and passionate about the work we do and his dedication has driven our organization to achieve greater goals. It has been my pleasure to work with Scott these past 10 years and I look forward to many more years of successful collaboration.”

“Scott is a valued member of the Heli-One team and has greatly contributed to the success of many projects,” added Guy Borowski, GM North American Operations, Heli-One. “He has proactively implemented efficiency practices that have helped condense project timelines and ultimately, minimize downtime for our customers. Scott has always been terrific to work with - congratulations to him on this fantastic honor.”

Scott has been extremely fortunate to be able to stay in the aviation industry for his entire working life. This is a testament to his dedication to his career, industry, colleagues, and the great care and consideration he applies to his work as an aircraft maintenance professional.

Heli-One congratulates all the Top 20 Under 40 winners for 2017 – the entire list and profiles can be seen in the July/August issue of Wings, the July issue of Helicopters, and in their respective digital editions.
