Heli-One Norway named “International Dealer of the Year” by Universal Avionics December 16, 2016

December 16, 2016 – Stavanger, Norway - Heli-One Norway has been recognized as Universal Avionics Systems’ 'International Dealer of the Year' for 2016.

Heli-One and Universal Avionics have partnered to deliver outstanding helicopter modification solutions and have recently had two Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs) certified for their cockpit and flight management system modernization program on the Airbus AS332. Two other notable flight display advancement programs are being jointly developed on the Sikorsky S-76 and S-61.

These programs offer operators a valuable opportunity to modernize their fleet, decrease operating costs, add value to aircraft and expand operational capability. The advancements use state-of-the-art technology to enhance safety and situational awareness while lessening pilot and crew workload. Through teamwork and collaboration, Heli-One and Universal Avionics, along with customers, regulatory representatives and other vendors, have found solutions for these challenging and complex projects.

“We are proud and honored to receive this recognition,” said Eddie Lane, Heli-One’s General Manager for Operations, Europe. “Even though this recognition is for Heli-One, we consider this an award for our successful partnership. The Design Team at Heli-One Norway, led by Tor Baustad, has done exceptional work. The solutions they developed in partnership with Universal Avionics empower customers with choice and allow them to truly customize modifications based on their operational needs.”

The new systems and technology implemented allow Heli-One customers to upgrade older aircraft with new advancements, lowering operating costs and adding value to their respective fleets.

Tor Baustad, the Design Head at Heli-One Norway, elaborated on various projects Heli-One completed using Universal Avionics systems and capabilities. Recently, Heli-One completed a number of modernization tasks. Universal Avionics’ EFI-890H EFIS system and UNS-1 Flight Management System were selected following a thorough evaluation in consultation with customers.

“The systems are ideal for helicopter retrofit programs, and the fact that they are developed for specific rotor wing parameters is an important factor,” Baustad said. “Universal Avionics’ support during design, installation, testing and certification has been very professional, and they have made a strong contribution to our success in recent projects.”

Heli-One has provided design services for more than 40 years and has teams of designers around the world with proven expertise. The company has developed hundreds of minor and major modifications and repairs for platforms including Airbus, Sikorsky, Bell, Leonardo, General Electric, Safran and Pratt & Whitney.
