Heli-One has been awarded a multi-million dollar contract by the Royal Thai Navy for base maintenance of one of the fleet’s Sikorsky S-76B aircraft.
Heli-One will be performing a complete refurbishment, including rewire, of ship 2308 with the contract expected to be completed within the next 12 months. Heli-One won the competitive bid process as a result of the cost-effectiveness of their proposal and their depth of experience on the Sikorsky aircraft. S-76B serial number 2308 is currently in transit to Heli-One’s facility in Boundary Bay, Canada, via Bangkok.
"Heli-One is proud to have been selected to provide base maintenance support to the Royal Thai Navy," said Larry Alexandre, President of Heli-One. "To be chosen as the preferred AMO for complete overhaul and refurbishment of such a crucial aircraft for a new military customer is testament to our proven track record and the soundness of our proposed program."
The contract was signed earlier in January 2013 by Admiral Saknarin Charoensuk Commander of the Royal Thai Navy, Air Division, located at the Naval Base in U-Tapao, Rayong District of Thailand.
The Royal Thai Navy’s fleet of six Sikorsky S-76Bs were purchased in 1996 and are primarily used for SAR and mission transport, deployed out of U-Tapao to various locations over Thailand.
