British Columbia, Canada – Heli-One, the world’s largest independent provider of helicopter maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) announces the signing of a five-year, multi-million dollar Power by the Hour contract with Pelita Air Service (PAS) on May 16th , 2012. This contract covers tip-to-tail MRO support to four Sikorsky S-76 C++ helicopters whose primary mission is to provide air transportation to offshore drilling rigs in the Matak Island region of the South China Sea, on behalf of the West Natuna Gas Consortium, the group contracted to deliver natural gas from the deep water reserves.
In addressing the stringent safety and operational regulations governing offshore operations, Heli-One embodied a number of specific modifications to ensure these helicopters meet industry requirements. “Pelita’s helicopters have undergone substantial modifications to meet the exacting standards required for operation in the offshore oil and gas industry,” explains Larry Alexandre, President of Heli-One. “Performing aircraft modifications for the offshore market; and specifically on the Sikorsky S-76 helicopter is an area in which we have extensive experience; having carried out similar modifications on more than 20 helicopters for offshore operators throughout the world.” Alexandre further emphasizes that in addition to his company’s offshore modifications expertise on the S-76, Heli-One is also a Sikorsky-approved Dynamic Component Repair and Overhaul Center for the S-76 and S-61 platforms, as well as a Sikorsky-approved S-76 Completions Centre.

Pelita Air Service has a well-established history of providing both rotary and fixed wing support services across a wide variety of mission roles; ranging from offshore; seismic and utility operations up to and including VIP transport services. PAS has been in operation since 1970, and is fully-owned subsidiary of the Indonesian State Oil and Natural Gas Company, Pertamina.
Heli-One is headquartered in Delta, British Columbia, Canada; with maintenance, repair and overhaul facilities in Delta, BC, Stavanger, Norway and Fort Collins, Colorado.
