Heli-One, the world’s largest independent provider of helicopter maintenance, repair and overhaul services, is supporting Hawaii’s Sunshine Helicopters with a fixed-price engine management contract as the luxury tour operator expands their operations to Las Vegas in 2013.

Sunshine Helicopters offers air tours of Maui, Molokai, Big Island Hawaii and Kauai, and is expanding to Las Vegas later in 2013.  By partnering with Heli-One for fixed-price services, Sunshine Helicopters can better plan for costs associated with its expansion.

Ross Scott, president of Sunshine Helicopters, says his company can maintain higher aircraft availability thanks to Heli-One’s expert servicing of its Turbomeca Arriel engines.

“Now we can better manage costs and cash-flow throughout the year and we’ll also have good reliability and performance,” Mr. Scott said.

Sunshine Helicopters operates a fleet of six Eurocopter EC130s and will add two more aircraft this summer.

Heli-One has signed an exclusive one-year contract, with an option for extension, to provide total engine maintenance support on Sunshine’s Turbomeca Arriel 2B1 engines.  The agreement is Heli-One’s first in Hawaii and in the helicopter tourism industry.  Work on the contract has already started, with engine maintenance underway at Heli-One’s specialist workshop facility in Fort Collins, Colorado.

“We understand that the priority for Sunshine Helicopters is engine reliability and performance,” said Erik Blanck, Heli-One Sales Director for North America. “We’re helping deliver total fleet readiness through both scheduled maintenance and emergency ‘aircraft on ground’ response services.

“When needed, Heli-One experts will travel to Hawaii to make sure aircraft are quickly returned to service.”
