Heli-One parent company, CHC Helicopter, has just hosted the 8th annual CHC Safety & Quality Summit in Vancouver, BC, Canada, between March 26 and 28, 2012. This year’s theme was ‘Improving Safety Culture through Talent, Training & Trust’.

The Summit attracted regulators, fixed-wing and helicopter operators plus people from related industries like oil and gas, insurance and crisis management. The Summits are opportunities for hundreds of delegates from companies big and small to come together to focus on the human side of aviation safety and to explore the reduction of risk.

This year’s summit boasted three renowned Speakers who each commented on one of the core themes; Talent, Training, and Trust. Tom Casey, Managing Principal at Discussion Partner Collaborative LLC spoke on ‘Talent’. Dr Tony Kern, CEO and Senior Partner at Convergent Performance LLC, discussed ‘Training’, and Stephen M.R. Covey, author of The Speed of Trust: The One Thing That Changes Everything, talked about ‘Trust’.

The featured keynote speech was delivered by Captain Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger III, an airline transport pilot, safety expert and accident investigator who gained fame after he successfully ditched US Airways Flight 1549 in the Hudson river on the west side of Manhattan in New York City on January 15, 2009.
